What is Vibblespace?
My name is Steve Thomason and VibbleSpace is my "Theological Sketchbook." Since I was a child I have had two passions:
- loving/learning/teaching about God, and
- Art.
VibbleSpace is a fusion of these passions. As a visual artist and a writer, I always carry a sketchbook/journal so that I can sketch out ideas as they come to me. This website is the cyber extension of that process. I invite you to browse through my sketchbook of ideas, and contribute wherever you like.
The sketches take on three forms:
- words - from random articles/blog posts, to downloadable studies, to published books available for purchase.
- static images - cartoons, paintings, charts, etc. that communicate an idea.
- moving images - I love to use animation to communicate ideas as much as possible. These take longer, so there are not as many of them. I hope to produce many more.
The topics of these sketches, ideas, and teachings form around three categories:
- Spiritual Formation: a holistic process of growing in the art of loving God with a whole heart and loving your neighbor as yourself.
- Theology: This is an all encompassing category where we can go wild and ask all the big questions, like: What is God? What is humanity? What is the basis of morality? Why are their so many religions? etc. yee ha!
- Biblical Studies: Since my foundational theological imprint was formed within the Judeo/Christian/Protestant/Evangelical tradition, the Bible has played a significant role in my relationship with God. While my views of scripture continue to evolve, I believe it is a vital resource for knowing God, and thus, must be properly understood within its historical/theological context. Plus, I really love to study it!
What is a VIBBLE?
A Visual Interactive Bible Based Learning Experience. It is my goal to continually create engaging and educational material that will empower people to grow deeper into the love of God. (*note: I recently discovered that Vibble is a city in Sweden. My apologies to the citizens of that fine village.)
Everyone is welcome to this site. No questions are out of bounds. The only thing I ask is that you be nice. You don't have to agree with me or other people who engage in comment threads (that would be boring, wouldn't it), but you do have to be respectful. The idea behind VibbleSpace is that it is "A Refreshing Place to Explore God." Not a place to get beat up for having unorthodox ideas.
So, with no further explanation...welcome, explore, and enjoy!
